Good, But Not Needed

People come and go. They may be a good person, but that doesn't mean they are needed in our lives in order to be happy. There is a reason they come and go and sometimes we don't know why. We may admire and think the world of that person and care deeply about them. Maybe they serve others well, are great listeners, intelligent, strong communicators, kind, generous, family oriented, and have so much to give and so much you want in your life.

Maybe they left on good terms, but that still doesn't mean we have to go chasing after them to keep them. In some way, shape, or form there is a purpose we can't always see. With time we will be able to look back and recognize the reasons the universe caused the collision and the disappearance. Change is good. Doors open for more. Opportunities and newness to come.

Maybe the relationship was meant to be an inspiration, meant to bring out a new side of us in a good or bad way. Or perhaps it was meant to test our limits and boundaries, stretch our emotions and thinking, or to be a warning in some way. We just reflect on why we felt some sort of way around them. Why did we feel those insecurities? Not seeking blame for anything or to blame them for feeling a certain way, but instead this is meant to turn inward. "Service to ourselves" like my friend said to reflect on ourselves and what we gave or didn't give and finding improvement within. Is there a deeper connection to something those emotions/insecurities/hopes/fears/ etc. we felt in the relationship or feel now and didn't realize we had about ourselves? What's that connection? Are they maybe connected to something in the the past? Is there something we subconsciously are afraid of about ourselves or the world around us? So much to reflect on and so much good to take away from the interaction.

Change is good. So change for the better.

Poke and prod at those feelings.

Context:

inspired by a break-up recently I had were in this case we didn't leave on good or bad terms. He simply didn't want the relationship anymore and I was OK with that. I still wanted to make the relationship work, but I realized there was so much more to it. I think he is a great guy- a "good guy"... and I'm a believer of holding onto the good ones when you find one. But for me, in this instance, I was OK with letting him go. Hence, he is a good one, but just because he is doesn't mean he is also needed in my life (don't get me wrong there is more to the story and other factors, but it is best we go different ways.) It still stumped me for why the departure because he is such an amazing and good guy. Good, but I don't need to go chasing. He doesn't fill a void or a need in me to make me happy. If the universe will have it and it's meant to be then we will find each other again. For now I'll learn from it all and move on happily. All is OK and I am happy.

{Inspiration also comes from a conversation about general self-reflection with my friend Candice.}
